Altrincham Muslim Association

Marriage Introduction Event

Assalaamualaikum. Welcome to the Altrincham Muslim Association Marriage Introduction Event

Why this Service was Started

This service was started several years ago because many parents were finding it increasingly difficult to find suitable spouses for their children. We realise this is very important as families are the building block of a stable society, and this starts with marriage.

This event is for the benefit of the Muslim community and it is non-profit making. The total cost of each event is over £350, so we ask each newly registered client for £10 and £5 from those who have attended before

DISCLAIMER: The event has been organised for the benefit of the Muslim community by the Altrincham Muslim Association. However, the Association cannot provide any guarantees about anyone attending the event. It is entirely the family’s responsibility to carry out reference checks on any family they are interested in arranging a marriage with. This is the reason why we encourage those seeking marriage to attend with an appropriate chaperone.

We have the right to refuse entry to unsuitable candidates.

Procedures for Applicants

The procedure at this event is simple. Please do the following:

Step 1 - Registration

Please complete one registration form per son/daughter at one of the desks at the entrance. The information on the forms will be shared with other families at future events, so it is important that you only fill in the information that you would like others to have.

In order to receive dates of future events and to communicate with other families, you must put your email address on the form.

PLEASE ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS TRUTHFULLY, as you would expect other parents to do so.

If you have previously registered, you DO NOT need to complete a new form, you just need to go to the Previously Registered desk to let us know you are here and receive your registration details.

DATA PROTECTION- IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT CONSENT IS GIVEN BY THE APPLICANT. BY TICKING THE BOX ON THE REGISTRATION FORM, YOU AGREE TO SHARE INFORMATION WITH OTHERS. IF THIS BOX IS NOT TICKED THEN IMMEDIATLEY AFTER THE EVENT THOSE FORMS WILL BE SHREDED. IN ORDER FOR YOUR FORM TO STAY IN THE REGISTRATION FILE AND BE SHARED WITH OTHERS, THE CONSENT BOX MUST BE TICKED.

Step 2

New Applicants take the form to the appropriate desk, based on age.

Step 3

You will be given a badge which provides a unique registration number that is associated with your form. The number indicates:

  • Gender (F or M), Age, A unique number

The writing on the badge is colour coded (blue or red) to indicate gender.

Step 4

You will be shown into the hall and taken to the appropriate area for your son’s/daughter’s age group.

Step 5

You will be divided into small groups and discuss several relevant topics. After 5 to 10 minutes of discussion, the groups will be re-arranged to discuss another topic. This procedure will be repeated over approximately the next 40 minutes. In this way applicants can meet each other and gain a brief impression of their views and attitudes.

Step 6

Following the group discussions, applicants and their families can freely meet with other families. The registration forms will also be displayed in the hall. If you want to have further details about a family but are shy to ask, just look at their badge number and find their details on the boards. Alternatively you can ask a helper to introduce you to a family. If you like the family, and they like you, please exchange contact details and arrange to meet in your own homes or wherever you agree.

Procedures for Parents/ Chaperones

Whilst the group discussions are taking place at the beginning of the event, the applicant’s parents/ chaperones will be seated in the refreshment area. This will allow families to meet each other.

What happens to your registration details after the event?

We are very careful to store the registration files in locked areas. The files are viewed publicly once a month at the Islamic Cultural Centre, Grove Lane, Hale, WA14.
